Overview
Nestled in the formidable Karakoram Range within Pakistan's Northern Areas (Gilgit-Baltistan), Diran Peak stands proudly at an elevation of 7,266 meters. Positioned to the east of Rakaposhi (7,788m), this peak exhibits a striking pyramidal shape that adds to its allure. The summit of Mount Diran, at 7,266 meters, witnessed its first conquerors in 1968, when three intrepid Austrians—Rainer Goeschl, Rudolph Pischinger, and Hanns Schell—achieved the remarkable feat. Prior attempts by a German expedition in 1959 and an Australian expedition in 1964 had proven unsuccessful. Regarded as Pakistan's most treacherous peak, Diran presents a formidable challenge due to its snowy slopes that are prone to avalanches. The history of attempts on Diran's summit has been marked by adversity, with past avalanches causing numerous casualties. Join us on a journey to explore the mystique and challenges of Diran Peak, where nature's grandeur meets the resilience of human spirit.
